Notes

  • TV Guide Description: "Archer's curiosity about an ancient monastery unwittingly places his crew in the midst of a long-standing interstellar conflict between the Vulcans and their arch rivals, the Andorians."

  • Both Jeffrey Combs and Steven Dennis have extensive previous Trek experience. Combs played characters such as Weyoun and Brunt in Deep Space Nine, while Steven Dennis made appearances on Voyager in episodes such as 'Night' and 'Equinox.'

  • Jeffrey Combs: "Star Trek: Enterprise called and asked if I would appear in episode 5 of the new series. I was reticent at first, but ultimately my curiosity got the better of me! I'll be playing an Andorian. They were a race introduced in The Original Series, but not utilized very much. They're blue with white hair and antennae and an edge. They despise Vulcans." (August 16, 2001 - TrekToday)

  • Jeffrey Combs described his character as an Andorian terrorist. (September 05, 2001 - TrekToday)

  • Brannon Braga: "The Andorians were probably the silliest looking aliens in Star Trek. So we thought it would be cool to update the look. The new costuming and makeup is extremely impressive. [We'll] also explore the culture a bit." (September 10, 2001 - TrekToday)

  • Rumoured to feature the conflict the Andorians and the Vulcans are in at the time of Enterprise. The Andorians accuse the Vulcans of spying on them using a long-range sensor array hidden in an old Vulcan monastery. When Archer and his crew decide to visit the monastery, they walk straight into an ambush, as only shortly before a rogue team of Andorians (led by Combs' character) took over the monastery in order to find the sensor array. Getting very little help from the pacifistic Vulcans, Archer then has to come up with a plan to defeat the Andorians. (October 02, 2001 - TrekToday)

  • Roxann Dawson: "The writing was fantastic. It has a 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' feel, swashbuckling adventure, humour, and it allowed the actors to have character interaction. I enjoyed all of those qualities in this script and I certainly enjoyed bringing them to life. I couldn't have been more pleased. Jeffrey Combs was the lead Andorian in this. He brought some wonderful colours and hues to this role, I have to say. I think it established them as a permanent colour on this show - he's truly great. " (October 24, 2001 - TrekToday)

  • Linda Park: "We all loved [Roxann Dawson], she created a great atmosphere for the actors to work in - it was okay to mess up. Her forte was really dealing with the actors and the story. She's a really lovely woman, her confidence and quiet assurance was a great thing to see - the only woman director that we've had." (October 24, 2001 - TrekToday)
