Notes

  • The first episode written by former X-Files scribe John Shiban, now Enterprise co-executive producer. (July 16, 2002 - TrekToday)

  • A report from StarTrek.com originally suggested Reed would be trapped by an alien mind in this episode. (July 16, 2002 - TrekToday)

  • Features the first Enterprise encounter with the Romulans, according to Dominic Keating. "We meet the Romulans for the first time, and I have no idea who they are!" (July 22, 2002 - TrekToday)

  • John Shiban: "In my first episode, we're playing up the Archer and Reed dynamic. We don't know a lot about Reed, which makes him a very interesting character. We know what his favourite food is, and we know a little bit about his relationship with his parents. He and Archer don't have a friendship that Archer and Trip have. We've got a situation in mind where they're forced together, so what do they learn about each other, and how do they work well together, how don't they?" (July 24, 2002 - TrekToday)

  • John Billingsley: "I thought this episode did a pretty good job at keeping that sense of the clock ticking, ticking, ticking, ticking all the way through the end, which is something for me as a viewer of action/adventure shows I usually find to be one of the biggest problems of the genre." (August 20, 2002 - TrekToday)

  • Anthony Montgomery: "That's a really, really great flying episode for Travis. Travis has to steer the Enterprise through a live minefield. And there's a mine attached to the ship." (August 23, 2002 - TrekToday)

  • Scott Bakula: "Dominic and I end up out in space and we shot it all against a green screen and it'll be terrific. We're going to be out there on the hull and behind us you'll see the nacelles and just things that they haven't visually done before. There's a moment when a ship materialises behind Dominic when he's on the hull which I think is going to be stunning stuff." (September 6, 2002 - TrekToday)

  • This episode was first repeated on December 25, 2002.
