Before he joined the crew of the U.S.S. da Vinci, Bartholomew Faulwell served as a cryptographer for Starfleet Intelligence during the Dominion War. Among the missions Faulwell carried out are some he can never disclose to anyone. But when a new crewmember innocently asks Bart what it was like to be in the war, he finds himself remembering a secret mission on an ice-covered moon that he would rather not recall: a mission that changed the course of the war.

Echoes of Coventry may not be an action packed adventure tale, but it is surprisingly compelling. The straightforward character driven narrative draws you inside the closed and confined world of Project Mungin, a secret post established by Starfleet Intelligence to listen in on transmissions within Cardassian space.

Faulwell's hopes for an uneventful tour are soon shattered when their probes start to pick up encrypted transmissions between the Dominion and the Breen and it becomes a race to break the code before the tides of war sweep away everything they hold dear.

Both regular readers of S.C.E. and anyone interested in learning more about the Dominion War should find Echoes of Coventry a very pleasing read.
