One aspect that I particularly enjoyed about this event was that Ricardo Montalban took his time with each fan, and even took photos with him/her when asked.

While I was there at the event, there were two moments with the fans that drew the media's attention. The first was when an attractive Hispanic woman asked Montalban to sign on the side of her blue denim jeans near her posterior. When he happily obliged, the media converged on the event like nobody's business! [grin] The second was when a group of die-hard 'Trek' fans, dressed in full Starfleet uniform regalia, gathered around him for a photograph opportunity. That naturally drew a commotion as well.

As for me, I got a few 'Star Trek II' DVDs signed by Montalban, one of which will be given away by Christian in a manner to be determined. Keep in mind that the DVD is Region 1 though, so TrekToday readers who are in other regions are out of luck when it comes to playing the DVD. Also, the back of the DVD case shows a Canadian rating of PG, which leads me to wonder if Sam Goody received a shipment of Canadian 'Star Trek II' DVDs instead of the American version. It doesn't mean that it's unplayable in American DVD players however. It was just something I noticed afterwards.

In addition, as before, I asked Montalban to write a short message to his fans online, and he happily obliged. How cool is that?! [grin]

All in all, it was a well-run event and as I mentioned before, I hope that Montalban will make another appearance in the future.

As for a possible event to promote the DVD release of 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture,' I was told that something big is planned. I can't wait.

[By the way, I apologize for the blurriness of some of the photos. I'm still experimenting with the F-stops and the use of flash with the digital camera I've had since late last year. A friend of mine, who also attended the event, took many photos and he will be sending them to me to publish here on TrekToday in the very near future. So stay tuned!]
